A new permanent home for Isla and Ivor

I can't believe this is finally happening but I got some big news this week - the funding has finally been approved for my two little animal characters, to be permanently installed at Oxford Eye Hospital!

As part of a big new shiny project, Isla (the bunny) and Ivor (the bear) are being placed at various locations round the department to help some of the younger patients navigate their way round the corridors. Meanwhile, the grown-up patients will be treated to fresh new waiting areas and corridors that are colour coded so everyone can find their way round easily.

There’s been lots of work put into the project; it functions as both decorative and practical so it’ll cheer up the rather dreary corridors and serve as a navigation system.

I’m very nervous about revealing Isla and Ivor - projects like these, in hospitals and public spaces are subject to lots of scrutiny, but hopefully everyone will love seeing them!

As we know, the pace at the NHS with projects like this is…erm, shall we say slow and measured?…So there might be a bit of time before we see them installed. In the meantime, I’m going back to the original drawings to get them all spick and span and do some final tweaks, before Isla and Ivor make their world debut!
